We made a welcome return to the award winning Larch Cottage Nurseries in Melkinthorpe, Cumbria to erect a garden theatre stage frame which
we designed and crafted to complement the sweeping curves of the lawns and organic forms of shrubs and trees. The weather
once again smiled on us over the day and a half it took to raise the structure with the help of the Larch Cottage crew.
We don't often erect two frames in a single week, but we did this week - one each side of the Pennines.
First, we travelled over to County Durham to erect an oak porch, the third phase of a larger new-build project, which we had stored finished until its site was ready. As this final frame was quite small, it was all up in place by lunch time, and pegged and fixed in plenty of time for us to set off on our drive back home a short while later.
A couple of days later, we were erecting a large sun lounge frame we designed and built to measure for a farmhouse in the Eden Valley,
in Cumbria. Sitting on low dwarf walls, the spacious room will look out upon the surrounding gardens and countryside. No sooner had we
completed our week's work, the timbers for our next project were on their way to our workshop - it's shaping up to be a busy year.
A well timed break in the weather allowed us to spend a leisurely week back up in our forest in Galloway, where we installed
a new off-grid solar power supply, finished the main structural frame for the roundwood cabin, made some rustic furniture for
the camp, cooked lots of nice food and played live acoustic music by the fire in the evenings.
We had a nice late summer day erecting a new entrance porch we designed and made to measure for a house in a popular village in the north lakes, in Cumbria. Sitting high up atop elevated dwarf walls, the open sided porch will give excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
Another great day on a busy building site erecting the second phase of three, a two-storey green oak tower to enclose a central feature
stairway, for a new-build town house project near Hartlepool in County Durham. Whilst the worked timbers had been delivered to site in late
February, careful stacking and weighing down meant they jointed together perfectly and the frame was up and pegged by mid afternoon.
We had a lovely day erecting a new entrance porch for the house here at Sunnymede. We design and build a great many oak frames for our clients, and we've really loved bringing them to reality, so it's a real joy to work on a project for here too.
