Estimate & Quote Details
We will always submit an estimate or quote as accurately as possible with an outline of the following...
Description: A summary of the frame to be crafted, including design features, options, dimensions and total frame weight.
Cost & Payments: Total cost, usually broken down into three approximately equal payments, or two for very small frames.
- Initial Deposit - payable upon commission (secures next available workshop schedule slot).
- Interim Payment - payable midway through frame fabrication.
- Final Balance - payable upon delivery.
Inclusions: A list of items and features included in our pricing.
Exclusions: A summary of items not included (eg. masonry works, glazing, roofing).
Schedule: An approximate frame fabrication, delivery and construction time scale.
All our estimates and quotes are valid for a period of 30 days unless by prior agreement.
Tax
As we are a small company, VAT is non-applicable to our frames. We will not produce an estimate
or quote with a view to adding further VAT. Where a client is in a position to take advantage of
the savings of claiming back VAT on project materials, we are happy for them to be purchased
directly for this purpose and we are accustomed to arranging and working to this.
Draft Design
When enquiring about a structural green oak frame it is important to note that,
in order to draft even an outline estimate, a working frame design needs to be created.
This requires a certain amount of time and effort in order to provide an accurate figure.
Any alterations in design subsequent to an estimate or quotation will require recalculation.
Where a medium sized or large frame is required, any detailed design is undertaken as a
commission in its own right. This separation of design from fabrication is necessary
because the complexity of design details and time taken in drafting preclude it from
being a speculative exercise.
Site Factors
Because commissions can vary according to site conditions, access and distance,
such costs as haulage and plant hire require a site visit prior to their inclusion
in any estimate or quotation. Until such a visit is made, we can produce only an approximate
assessment of these costs.
