This responsible use of green oak ensures the continued management and survival
of oak and mixed broadleaved woodlands, together with their associated habitats
and wildlife. Where possible, we use high quality reclaimed materials for our
carvings and sculptures.
Fossil fuel consumption is kept to a minimum. Whilst maintaining an economic
and reliable timber supply, preference is given to local material and haulage
suppliers where practical.
The Sessile Oak workshop and office further reflect our commitment to sustainability and minimizing our environmental impact.
- Our workshop is lit and heated during the day by a passive solar gain screen.
- Electricity is supplemented by our own 2.5 kW photovoltaic solar array which feeds any surplus generated back into the grid.
- Our office area is fitted with low energy LED lighting throughout.
- All our waste sawdust is bagged and sent for composting.
- High quality wood chips are collected for food smoking.
